24 year old George Hand, from Kettering, Northants was taught to sail by his parents, who obviously did a good job, as so far in his career he has seven National Championships under his belt and numerous podium finishes.
In 2017, George will be competing in the Musto Skiff class, in which he finished 2nd in 2016, while taking the 18 Foot Skiff title. His aim is to win the Musto Skiff World Championships in 2017, but he will also be competing in J70s.
“I’ve been sailing for as long as I can remember, there is a picture of me sailing a GP14 as a toddler, I first started racing properly in an Optimist. My parents and grandparents who still actively sail, In a boat I still trust my Dad as a helm more than any other helm I’ve sailed with and can’t thank my Mum enough for teaching me to race in a Mirror Dinghy.”
